Boys finish fourth overall in cross country meet

Staff Report

FAYETTEVILLE — Led by race runnerup Savannah Rhodes, the Blanchester girls cross country team finished second Saturday at the Fayetteville Invitational.

“The course was flat and much faster than our first meet,” BHS coach Tony Blevins said. “We had a nice pack. Many of the girls we share with soccer were running their first races.”

The Blanchester boys were fourth out of 14 teams.

“The boys ran a much better race with most cutting a few minutes off their time from Monday’s meet,” said Blevins. “We almost had four (runners) under 20 minutes.”

David Trivett was the top runner for the Wildcat boys, finishing 12th in 18:44.52.

For the girls, Rhodes clocked 21:00.75 while teammate Olivia Gundler was sixth overall in 21:26.41.
