BHS attacks, tops Fairfield

BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester volleyball team defeated Leesburg Fairfield 25-11, 25-12, 25-9 Wednesday in a non-league match at BHS.

“The game plan was to attack the ball and they did just that with 24 kills and only six errors as a team,” said BHS coach Rebecca Doughman.

The Ladycats coach also was pleased with the defense, recording 37 perfect passes and only seven bad passes.

Sarah Burton had a block, three points, an ace and three kills. Asia Baldwin had a block, 12 points, three aces, a dig and seven kills. Kayla Dugger had seven points, three aces, a dig, 15 assists and five kills.

Hannah Wisniewski had three blocks, four points, an ace, 10 assists and four kills. Shayla Sicurella had four points, three aces and three kills. Cheyenne Brown had a kill.

Heather Hurtt had four points, an ace and two digs. Allie Evans had eight points, two aces, five digs and a kill. Shelbie Rose had a point and two digs. Stephanie Gerlach had two digs.

On Tuesday, Blanchester lost its Southern Buckeye Conference opener to Felicity, 25-20, 20-25,m 25-15, 21-25, 10-15.

“We hardly hit the ball,” said Doughman. “Felicity’s defense got to everything we put over the net.”

Burton had 13 kills for BHS. Dugger “placed the ball well with 11 points from pushes and tips.” Allie Evans had 10 digs and 31 perfect passes.
