WC men’s track, field third at Cedarville

CEDARVILLE — The Wilmington College men’s track and field team finished third Friday in an invitational at Cedarville University.

Freshman Aaron Koch (Goshen, OH/Goshen) claimed the highest, individual finish in a running event with his second place finish in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.27 seconds. Teammate Kaner Butler finished sixth in the same event with a time of 8.76, nearly two tenths of a second faster than his time in preliminaries.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Koch, junior Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond), freshman Adam Knaub, and junior Eric Flynn, Jr. (Cleveland, OH/Central Catholic) snagged a second-place finish with a time of 1:36.09.

The distance medley relay, made up of Burnam, Knaub, freshman Jeff Clydesdale (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm), and junior Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia), also finished in second-place for the Fightin’ Quakers with a time of 11:13.86.

In the field events, senior Antone Truss received the highest finish of the meet for the Fightin’ Quakers. He finished first in the high jump, clearing 1.98 meters.

Butler finished second for WC in the triple jump with a distance of 12.59 meters. Truss was close behind, jumping a distance of 11.25 meters.

Junior Kalvin Butts (St. John’s, MI/St. John’s) rounded out the high finishes for the Fightin’ Quakers. Butts threw a distance of 14.98 meters in the weight throw to claim second-place and putted a distance of 12.71 meters for fourth-place in the shot put.

The Fightin’ Quakers head to the Indoor All-Ohio Meet hosted by Otterbein University on Feb. 11.
