BELLBROOK — Turnovers caught up with the Clinton-Massie girls basketball team Wednesday night in a 53-29 loss to Bellbrook in a non-league game at the Lebanon Road gym.
The Lady Falcons battled the No. 2 seed in their upcoming sectional tournament to a 24-15 halftime score.
“Our girls played hard and effort has not been an issue,” said CM first-year head coach Tim McGraw. “It’s the turnovers that continue to hurt us.”
Clinton-Massie had 29 turnovers while Bellbrook committed just nine.
“Bellbrook is a solid basketball team, two seed in our sectional and we hung with them for 2 1/2 to 3 quarters,” said McGraw. “But as you know you aren’t going to win many ballgames turning it over 29 times.”
The loss puts Massie at 5-16 on the year with the regular season finale at home Saturday against East Clinton. Tipoff for the reserve game is set for Noon.
The Lady Eagles improve to 18-3.
Bekah Vine of BHS had four three-pointers and topped all scorers with 16 points. She had a pair of threes in the fourth quarter as the Lady Eagles put the game away.
Johanna Theetge and Savannah Myers had six points each. Brooke Rose and Madilyn Newton had five points each. Newton also three assists. Myers grabbed nine rebounds.
