NEW ORLEANS, La. — For the third year in a row, the Wilmington College women’s cross country team was named one of the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams.

“Our roster was mostly freshman this year,” says head coach Ron Combs, “and I’m really proud of the way they came in and established themselves in the classroom. It is a well deserved honor for the team.”

In order for a team to be considered for this award, the team must have competed and scored at a NCAA Regional Meet and have a minimum GPA of 3.10 on a 4.00 scale.

This year, the team had a young, small roster. The seven-woman roster consisted of six freshmen and one senior runner. Despite this being the first semester of collegiate academics and athletics for the majority of the team, the team finished the season with a GPA of 3.37.
