Wilmington’s Mya Jackson earned second team Associated Press All-Southwest District basketball honors as selected by a media panel in the district.
Also, Wilmington’s Dylan Beaugard and East Clinton’s Wyatt Floyd earned third team honors.
Several Clinton County players were given honorable mention in the district voting. They were, on the girls side, Wilmington’s Faith Sanderson in Division II, East Clinton’s Paige Lilly in Division III; and for the boys Nick Chowning of Clinton-Massie in Division II and Dylan Miller of Blanchester in Division III.
Jackson, a 5-6 sophomore guard, averaged 20.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 1.5 assists per game for the Lady Hurricane. She was the top underclassmen on the District 15 coaches all-star team and is a top 50 player in the Dabbelt Report.
Though she has two years of high school remaining, Jackson is being recruited by Xavier University, the University of Dayton, Northern Kentucky University and Loyola of Chicago, according to WHS coach Zach Williams.
Beaugard, a 5-9 junior guard, average 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals per game for the Hurricane.
Floyd, a 6-0 junior guard, averaged 18.6 points, 3.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game for the Astros.
Sanderson, a 5-4 junior guard, averaged 9.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 1.7 assists. Lilly, a 5-6 junior wing, averaged 10 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1.8 assists per game. Chowning, a 5-10 senior guard, averaged 13 points, 3 assists and 3 steals per game. Miller, a 6-0 senior guard, averaged 16.7 points per game while shooting 38.6 percent from the three-point arc.
