GEORGETOWN — Logan Swinderman recorded a hat trick as the Blanchester boys soccer team blanked Georgetown 4-0 Tuesday in Southern Buckeye Conference National Division action at Brian Grant Stadium.
The win puts Blanchester at 3-0-1 in league play and allows the Wildcats to keep pace with Bethel-Tate, coach Troy Ballinger said.
Swinderman scored before a minute elapsed thanks to a long punt by BHS goalkeeper Dakota Penquite, who bypassed the defense and allowed a racing Swinderman to boot home the game-winner early in the match.
Swinderman followed with Topher Farrow notching the assist. Swinderman completed the hat trick on a penalty kick, when he was pulled down from behind in the box, Ballinger said.
Swinderman assisted on the final goal, a throw-in to Sam Schafer directly in front of the Bethel-Tate net.
Penquite made 14 saves for his first shutout of the season. Georgetown pressured the BHS goal but never crossed the goal line.
