MORROW — The Wilmington High School baseball team opened its season Saturday with a pair of shutout losses to Little Miami 2-0 and 5-0 in non-conference action.
The WHS bats had just seven hits on the day.
Zach Wyrick pitched a solid game in the opener, allowing one earned run in six innings.
“We hit a little better in the second game but too many times we did not execute when counts were in our favor,” WHS head coach Dustin James said. “We had quality at-bats that did not always produce base runners.
“We fielded the ball well (one error on the day) and pitched well but we have to produce more on the offensive side to win ball games.”
Stephen Krause collected two hits in the nightcap, including a triple. Chris Wolary had one hit in each game.
