GREENFIELD — Chad Davis had three hits and drove in five runs and Wilmington pitching held McClain to one hit Wednesday in a 13-1 victory in South Central Ohio League action at MHS.

Ryan Hottinger went four innings to start and gave up one hit, one run and walked two. Senior Josh Piechocki pitched the final inning for WHS, now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the SCOL.

Davis, a senior, went 3-for-4 with a single in the second, an inside-the-park homerun in the third and a double in the fourth. He drove in five, scored twice and stole a base.

Nate Lakes, a junior, had two hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in four runs. Alex Meyer, a sophomore, had two hits, with a double, and scored two runs.

“We hit well,” WHS coach Dustin James. “Greenfield made a couple of errors early that allowed us to gain some confidence and guys began to hit their pitches. I was proud of the adjustments our players made between today and last Saturday at Little Miami. We have a lot of games scheduled in the next week and it is good to find a groove at the beginning of league play.”
