Massie crushes Indiana visitors 52-21

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Clinton-Massie had a slight hiccup Friday recovering from last week’s loss at Steubenville. It didn’t last long.

Trafalgar (Ind.) Indian Creek scored on the first play of the game, an 83-yard pass, but it was pretty much all Massie the rest of the way in a 52-21 victory at Frank Irelan Field.

The Falcons (2-1) scored all eight times they had the ball in the first half, starting just three plays after Indian Creek’s game-opening scoring strike.

Massie also had a pair of scores within a minute on two occasions. Triston Hill’s 16-yard scoop and score came 42 seconds after Jaycob Wolf’s 2-yard run midway through the opening period. Massie sandwiched a Hunter Fentress 12-yard touchdown pass to Trey Uetrecht and a Wolf 8-yard scoring gallop around a recovered onside kick.

Luke Richardson set up Devon O’Bryon’s 6-yard run with a 45-yard punt return to the Indian Creek 2.

Wolf crossed the goal line one other time, from a yard out, after the Falcons stuffed the Braves on 4th-and-7 from the IC 21.

Chris Demler’s 20-yard field goal just before the end of the half capped the onslaught.

Gynson Robley’s second of three touchdown passes was the only interruption in the Falcon first-half flurry. His third came on the final play of the third quarter to set the final margin.

“They got off on some big plays. We’re going to have to tighten up our pass defense. We’re still trying to find ourselves on the defensive side of the ball,” CM head coach Dan McSurley said. “Offensively, I thought Brad Hunt was a beast tonight replacing Davey Tunon. We’re real happy with how he functioned in Davey’s capacity. He’s a different type of runner, a brawler. I thought Hunter (Fentress) did a good job, too.”

Hunt finished with 97 yards on 18 carries.

Massie now owns a 24-game home winning streak.
