News Journal Report

The 8th annual Sugartree Ministries golf tournament will be held June 23 at Majestic Springs Golf Course.

Registration and lunch for the event is set to begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start to the tournament at 12:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Sugartree Ministries, Your Father’s Kitchen and Joe’s Java House.

Corporate and group sponsorship is available for the event. Sponsorships are Bronze (name on group sponsor sign); Silver (group sign and individual hole sign) and Gold (group sign, individual hole sign and company sign at pavilion).

Cost to play in the tournament is $85 for an individual or $340 for a team of four players.

Items also can be donated for the raffles which are held at the tournament each year.

The golf tournament is the largest single fundraiser for Sugartree Ministries, which has been meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those in our community for 19 years.

Sugartree Ministries and its volunteers serve food six days a week to people who are in need of a nutritious meal and fellowship. In addition to the meals, groceries are provided for more than 100 families on a weekly basis. The facility also serves as a drop-in shelter and conducts substance abuse recovery meetings. Sugartree Ministries “strives to comfort, encourage and urge our brothers and sisters through all of our outreach ministries,” according to a press release.

“Sugartree Ministries touches many lives in our community and has been able to do so due to the generosity of organizations and Individuals,” said Ron Cordy, tournament director. “We are asking that you consider sponsoring a team for the golf outing, sponsoring a hole, donating items, gift certificates, etc. for our raffles or any other contribution. Your participation will help ensure our continued service to our community.”
