BLANCHESTER — With a trio of players with three hits each, the Blanchester reserve baseball team defeated Amelia 19-7 Monday at Bott Field on the BHS campus.

Justin Ballard, Jacob Fischer and Eric Patton had three hits each.

“We got off to a slow start in the first couple of innings,” coach Andrew Freeman said. “We were down 6-1, then rallied back to take the lead 12-6 in the third inning. The team did not look back from there.”

Patton settled down after the first inning and pitched very well, Freeman added, and the defense made plays behind him. Then at the plate we had four players with multiple hits and two of them with multiple extra base hits.

Ballard had a double, triple, homerun and three runs batted in. Ballard’s three-run blast in the bottom of the fifth inning ended the game because of the 10-run rule.

Fischer had two doubles and three RBI while Patton had three hits, including a double, and drove in five runs.
