LEES CREEK — Max Murray had three hits and picked up the win on the mound as Clinton-Massie defeated East Clinton 8-3 Wednesday in South Central Ohio League action at the ECHS diamond.
The win keeps the Falcons atop the SCOL with a 6-0 mark. They are 9-2 overall.
East Clinton drops to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in league play.
“I’m proud of my boys for showing fight at the end of the game,” EC coach Brian Carey said of his squad who scored all three runs in the bottom of the seventh. “We had momentum behind us late.”
Carey said Cameron Conner “continues to be a leader on the mound.”
“When he is on the mound, we have immense confidence as a team,” Carey added. “Some small mental errors tonight but we are showing progression each game.”
Murray pitched into the seventh, striking out 10 and allowing just one earned run. Dana Eichenhorst pitched the final 2/3s of the seventh inning.
“I have to commend Max on his effort,” CM coach Brian Camp said. “I thought he was getting a little tired so we went out to get him. He made a couple of nice defensive plays on the mound, too.”
Murray had three hits to lead a 12-hit attack for the Falcons. The key inning was the third when Massie scored five runs. The big hits were a two-run single by Weston Trampler and a two-run single by Eichenhorst.
