JAMESTOWN — Cameron Conner’s successful squeeze bunt in the top of the eighth helped East Clinton outlast Greeneview 8-7 Thursday in a non-league baseball game at the Greeneview diamond.
The Astros, 4-7 on the season, stole nine bases in the win.
“We ran the bases very well,” EC head coach Brian Carey said. “We got on base, got them over, and got them in. I can’t ask for anything more.”
Zach Mitchell led the basepath thievery with three. He scored the winning run on a perfectly executed squeeze play in the eighth inning by Cameron Conner.
Conner stayed hot with the bat, collecting three hits.
East Clinton led 7-4 before Greeneview scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
“Defensive errors continue to be an Achilles heel for us,” Carey said. “We have to step on the gas when we get the lead.”
