HILLSBORO — It was an all-around team effort Wednesday as Wilmington hammered Hillsboro 18-0 in South Central Ohio League softball action at Shaffer Park.
Coach Glen Blessing said the offense “did a very good job at the plate with a lot of hard-hit balls.” The pitching ”was very solid, getting ahead in the count consistently.” And the defense “was great also, with error-free softball.”
The sixth consecutive win puts the Lady Hurricane at 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the SCOL.
Olivia Veidt pitched a two-hitter, striking out six and walking only one. She was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three runs batted in.
Courtney Smart led the offense with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with five runs batted in and two runs scored. Madi Flint also drove in four runs.
