PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — The Clinton-Massie softball team finished its spring break trip to Tennessee with a 5-1 overall record.

On Thursday, the Lady Falcons defeated Rocky River Magnificat 8-4 and Rogersville (Tenn.) Cherokee 5-2.

“This was a good week for us,” CM coach Anthony Lauer said.

In the first game, Claire Carruthers pitched the final four innings to pick up the win. She struck out six and did not walk a batter.

“Claire did a really nice job on the mound today,” Lauer said. “She stepped when we needed her and did a great job.”

In the nightcap, Hailey Clayborn had three hits and Taylor Florea went the distance on the mound for the win.

“This was a big win for us against a big school,” said Lauer. “They were 12-3 coming into this game. The girls came out ready to play.”
