BLANCHESTER — Carly Wagers picked up the win on the mound and was strong at the plate Friday as Williamsburg remained unbeaten with a 5-1 win over Blanchester in a Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division game at BHS.

Blanchester is 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the National Division. Williamsburg is 17-0 overall and 8-0 in the National Division.

“The energy and effort was much better tonight compared to when we played Williamsburg last Friday,” BHS coach Jamey Grogg said. “We just made a few mistakes that cost us a few runs and it is a big difference being down one or two, instead of being down four to a team as good as Williamsburg.”

Carly Wagers was the winning pitcher and slugged a pair of homeruns at the plate.

“I was pleased with the way the girls battled in the batter’s box all game against two of the better pitchers we will see this year,” Grogg said.

Shayla Sicurella had two hits, including a double. Kassidy Abney doubled on a changeup and drove in a run. Hannah Mann also had a hit.
