Spring update for county connections, alumni

Here is a check of Clinton County athletes or athletes with Clinton County connections and how they are doing this spring, either in college or at the professional level. Anyone with information to share regarding a Clinton County athlete or athlete with Clinton County connections, should sent info and photos to [email protected].

• Catie Barber, daughter of Brad Barber (EC grad) and granddaughter of Roger and Cate Barber (Sabina residents), was featured in a recent edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal. Catie is a softball standout at Louisville’s Ballard High School and is planning to attend the University of Louisville to play softball.

• Allison Brooks, 2016 Wilmington High School graduate, is a freshman at Ashland University and plays tennis. She ended her spring season with a doubles win against Mount Vernon Nazarene. Ashland finished the season with a 1-17 record.

• Caitlyn Robinson, 2016 Clinton-Massie High School graduate, is a freshman at Ball State University and plays softball. She had her first collegiate hit this season against Drake University on Feb. 17. She has scored three runs and has a stolen base. Ball State is 27-20 on the year, but has won 16 of its last 20 games.

• Emilie Fisher, 2016 CMHS grad, is a freshman at Denison University and plays softball. In 12 games, Fisher is 14 for 43 (.326) with a double and triple. Primarily a third baseman, she has made just one error this season. Denison is 23-11 on the year.

• Savanna Brown, 2015 Blanchester High School grad, is a sophomore at Wright State University and plays softball. In 15 games this season, Brown is 5-for-19 with an RBI. Wright State is 14-24 on the year.

• Zach Santoro, 2015 CMHS grad, is a sophomore at Notre Dame College in Avon, Ohio. Originally a member of the Appalachian State University baseball team in 2016, Santoro is in his first year at NDC. Santoro is 32-for-129 (.248) with a homerun and 14 RBI. The Falcons are 11-27 on the year. NDC is an NCAA Div. II institution.

• Jordyn Cordell, a 2015 WHS graduate, is a sophomore at Loyola University (Chicago) and plays softball. She is 32-for-118 this season in 41 games with two doubles and two triples. She has eight RBI and has stolen three bases. Cordell his .241 in 41 starts last season for the Ramblers. Loyola is 22-19 this season.

• Tyler Johnston, 2009 WHS graduate, is a volunteer assistant coach for the Wright State University men’s tennis team. The Raiders are 6-17 on the season.
