GREENFIELD — The quest for a gold softball championship trophy for Clinton-Massie rolled on Tuesday with a 10-0 victory in five innings over McClain.

The Lady Falcons improve to 10-0 in the league and 19-1 overall. Massie is ranked No. 5 in the state in this week’s Ohio Softball Coaches Association Div. II poll.

Coach Anthony Lauer said Victoria Sivert, Taylor Florea and Hailey Clayborn played well offensively. All three had two hits each.

Florea also was the winning pitcher.

“The first two innings we came out swinging,” Lauer said. “We kinda dropped our intensity a little the next couple innings. Our defense played good again tonight.”

Massie did not have an error on defense.

McClain’s two hits started the fourth inning but Florea and the CM defense bowed their individual and collective backs and kept the Lady Tigers off the scoreboard.
