Falcons falter at Chillicothe but maintain SCOL lead

CHILLICOTHE — Clinton-Massie missed a chance to take a two-game lead in the South Central Ohio League with a 2-1 loss to Chillicothe at Hansel Field.

The Falcons are 15-6 overall and 10-2 in the league. Massie leads the league by one game over Wilmington with two games remaining on the schedule. The Hurricane lost Wednesday to Washington 9-7.

“We had some opportunities,” CM coach Brian Camp. “We had a few physical errors and a few mental errors that were crucial but Chillicothe played really well. We put the ball in play a lot, put it in play hard; they just made every play. Wasn’t a whole lot we could do after that. This was a game where there was no room for mistakes and we made them.”

Jacob Wolf drove in the only run for Massie, plating Noah Greathouse with a run in the fourth as the Falcons tied the game at 1-1.

But the Cavaliers scored a run in the sixth to win it. Both Chillicothe runs were unearned, Camp said.
