SCOL leader Chillicothe blanks WHS in hard-fought battle

WILMINGTON — South Central Ohio League leader Chillicothe held off Wilmington 5-0 Monday in league action Monday at the WHS courts.

The Hurricane is 11-6 overall and 8-4 in the SCOL.

The Cavaliers sit atop the SCOL standings with a 10-0 record. They are 13-4 overall.

Despite the 5-0 score, the match was extremely close. The Hurricane lost three tiebreakers and two other matches went to a third set pro-set.

Colt Smith lost his two-set match in a pair of tiebreakers 6-7 (4-7), 6-7 (5-7).

Both WHS doubles teams — Drew Moyer and Jalen Douglas at first and Mason McIntosh and Jack Romer at second — won the first set then lost the next two.
