LEES CREEK – Chris Wolary and Chad Davis combined to drive in seven runs Wednesday as Wilmington defeated East Clinton 13-6 in South Central Ohio League baseball action at ECHS.
Wolary, who homered, went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three runs batted in while Davis was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, two stolen bases and four RBI. Wilmington collected 14 hits as a team.
Josh Piechocki was the winning pitcher for WHS, striking out seven in six innings.
The Astros were down 8-1 but rallied to make it 10-6 before the Hurricane put three on the board in the seventh inning.
“I was proud of the way our boys fought back tonight after getting down early,” EC coach Brian Carey said. “Wilmington is a very good team and hits the ball well. We expected that tonight and knew we were going to have to be aggressive all around. This is the competition we need in order to get ready for Monday. Dusty has done a great job with those boys and I wish them all the best going into tournament play.”
Zach Mitchell scored three runs while Cameron Conner drove in two teammates. Conner and Patrick Dotson (two runs scored) both stole a pair of bases.
It was senior night at East Clinton.The seniors are Conner, Ethan Cornwell, Cory Porter, Bryan Wheeler, Brandon Vaughn and Tyler Ludwick
“I will miss these guys tremendously,” said Carey. “The leadership those boys have had all season has started this program in the right direction. No matter their roles they have stepped up and got it done.”
