ANNA — State-ranked Anna defeated East Clinton 11-1 Wednesday in a Division III sectional baseball game at AHS.

The Astros end the season at 5-17. Anna, ranked No. 8 in this week’s Div. III state poll, continues in the tournament.

“We came out flat defensively and our bats were lagging tonight,” EC coach Brian Carey said. “Anna hit the ball everywhere we weren’t. We tried switching it up pitching-wise but they continued to hit the ball well.”

Carey wished the seniors the best in the future while looking forward to the 2018 season.

“Despite our record this year, we have come a long way,” he said. “I wish the seniors the best in their ventures beyond here. When they come back to EC they will be able to look back and say we changed this program. EC baseball is on the up-swing thanks to the boys’ hard work ethic and competitive spirit. Only high hopes for this next season.”
