Cavaliers too much for Astros 50-7

CHILLICOTHE — Some razzle-dazzle and a huge Chillicothe penalty helped the Cavaliers defeat East Clinton Friday night 50-7.

While it seems odd to say a penalty on Chillicothe helped them win, it was an offensive pass interference penalty that prevented a sure East Clinton interception.

Three plays later on third and 29, Cavalier quarterback Jack Busch passed to Quintin Davidson, who pitched to Nathan Rosenbauer. He scampered for 29 yards and a first down.

Chillicothe scored three plays later on a 23-yard screen pass from Busch to Rosenbauer to make it 21-7 Cavaliers with 1:16 left in the half.

East Clinton quarterback Erik Moore tried to move the Astros down before the half but was intercepted by Rosenbauer at the Chillicothe 33.

On the next play, Chillicothe ran an end-around into a reverse. The ball ended up in the hands of Davidson, who threw it to Kristian Boltenhouse. He took it the remainder of the 67 yards to give the Cavaliers a 28-7 halftime lead.

Chillicothe (2-2, 1-0 SCOL) added to the lead when Kahleel Danzy intercepted a Moore pass and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown with 3:58 left in the third. That gave the Cavaliers a 35-7 lead.

Rosenbauer would score again early in the fourth on a 28-yard run. He finished with 247 total yards and five total touchdowns.

Brian Barnes was the top target for East Clinton (2-2, 0-1 SCOL), catching nine passes for 92 yards. Wyatt Floyd had three catches for 40 yards including a 20-yard touchdown reception from Moore.

Chillicothe outgained East Clinton 420 to 161. The Cavaliers rushed for 201 yards on 31 carries.
