In honor of Mike Ewing

In memory of 1962 Wilmington High School graduate Mike Ewing, a new mural was painted by Duane Richard on the back of the Alumni Field pressbox. Ewing passed away last October. He was captain of the Hurricane football team in 1961. WHS athletic director Troy Diels said wife Diane Ewing and the family asked for donations to be made to the WHS athletic department. Once the donations were in, the options for how to use the money was discussed. Several possibilities were given to Richard and the decision to choose this one was agreed upon. “I am extremely proud of it and I think it is a great lasting tribute to Mr. Ewing and his family,” Diels said.
