Astros win first SBAAC National Division match

HAMERSVILLE — East Clinton won the first Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Divisional divisional match Wednesday at Friendly Meadows Golf Course.

The Astros had a team total of 177 while Blanchester finished seventh with a 241 team total.

Lance Sininger of Georgetown was the overall match medalist with a 1-under par 35 on the 6,020-yard layout.

Brendon Walters led the Astros with a 42 while Gage McConnahay shot a 44 and Jacob Olds had 45. Shane Streber posted a 46. Playing but not scoring for the Astros, Logan Kelly (48) and Brandon Michael (58).

Clermont Northeastern and Georgetown tied for second with 191s. Williamsburg was next with 203 and was followed by Bethel-Tate (220) and Felicity (222).

Individually for Blanchester, Connor Cook paved the way with a 53.

Brian Miller had a 59 and Jacob Miller came in with a 60. Ashlin Benne carded a 69.

The next divisional match for National Division teams will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Elks Run with Williamsburg as host.
