WHS boys 4th, girls 6th in season-opening CC meet

SPRINGBORO — The Wilmington High School boys cross country team finished fourth Monday in the season opening Springboro Invitational at Patricia Allyn Park.

Simon Heys led the Wilmington boys with a 10th place finish in 11:03.1. The race was two miles instead of the normal 3.1 miles for cross country races.

For the WHS girls, Tristin Vail was 33rd in 14:57.8. As a team, the Lady Hurricane finished sixth overall.

“A good, hot day,” WHS coach Eileen Grosse said. “Our cross country teams did well today.”
