CM tennis stays unbeaten, tops NR 4-1

NEW RICHMOND — With three courts still unbeaten on the season, the Clinton-Massie tennis team took control of the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference American Division.

With a 4-1 win over the Lady Lions on Wednesday, Clinton-Massie improves to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the American. The Lady Falcons will get another tough league test when they travel to Goshen to face the Warriors on Thursday.

New Richmond is 2-1 on the year.

Hailey Clayborn and Anne Thompson both improve to 6-0 overall with singles wins while Claire Carruthers and Hailey Stinchcomb are now 5-0 at first doubles.

Thompson had the match of the night with a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles. Coach Lynn Deatherage said despite dropping the first set Thompson was able to wear down her opponent in the second and third sets of the two and a half hour match.

Nina Lazic was a winner at third singles for the Lady Falcons.
