GOSHEN — In a battle of Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference unbeatens, Goshen gained the measure of Clinton-Massie 3-2 in an American Division battle for first place.

First and second singles went three sets with Anne Thompson remaining unbeaten on the year at second singles. She is 7-0. Hailey Clayborn suffered her first loss of the year.

Claire Carruthers and Hailey Stinchcomb are 6-0 after their win at first doubles.

“It’s always disappointing to drop a match, but it takes intense competition to improve,” CM coach Lynn Deatherage said. “We did see some fatigue tonight.

“Goshen’s coach, Bryce Blanton, is a teaching pro at Harper’s Point. His young team is greatly improved from a year ago and will certainly be a force in the SBAAC this season.”

Clinton-Massie is now 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the SBAAC. Goshen is 3-0.
