National unbeaten CNE tops EC volleyball

LEES CREEK — East Clinton was defeated by league unbeaten Clermont Northeastern Thursday 20-25, 20-25, 18-25 in National Division volleyball action in the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference.

“CNE was a good team and we had some moments of bad decision making that they capitalized on,” East Clinton coach Sarah Sodini said. “We got down by several points every game due to serving errors and worked back up, but we could not finish.”

East Clinton is 0-1 overall and 0-1 in division matches. Clermont Northeastern is 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the National.

Sodini said Kenzie Campbell, Victoria Jamison and Kait Durbin had good games at the net. Campbell finished with 11 kills and 10 digs. Jamison had a kill with seven blocks and two digs. Durbin posted two aces, five kills, a block and five digs.

Emma Malone had seven digs and Sierra Christian contributed a dig and an assist. Kaitlyn Talbot and Kayla Hall had one kill each. Paige Lilly had three kills and two digs. Lacey Peterman had an ace and four digs. Myah Jones had a kill, three aces, five assists, a block and three digs. Logan Peterman had an ace, nine assists and eight digs.
