WC’s Weathersby earns OAC special teams honor

AUSTINTOWN – Wilmington College freshman Parris Weathersby has been honored by the conference for his work during Saturday’s Quaker Bowl victory.

Weathersby (Holy Cross, Ky.) was named Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

“This one is huge,” said Wilmington head coach Bryan Moore. “We believe that the quickest way to turn this program around is to improve dramatically on special teams. Having a young kid like Parris come out of the gate making plays in the kicking game, shows that our young guys are buying in to what it takes to change the culture here. I am happy for him and proud of him.”

The freshman defensive back recorded tackles in six of the team’s eight kickoffs as the Fightin’ Quakers snapped a 19-game losing streak with a 49-20 win over Earlham.

The Fightin’ Quakers have a bye this week before stepping into Ohio Athletic Conference action 2 p.m. Sept. 16 at Otterbein.
