BLANCHESTER – Williamsburg scored an early goal and went on to defeat Blanchester 3-1 Tuesday in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division match at Barbour Memorial Field.

The loss puts Blanchester at 1-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the division. Williamsburg is now 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the National Division.

Williamsburg scored 30 seconds into the match as Blanchester “made a series of bad touches and turned the ball over deep in their own territory,” BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said. Hailey Beesten of WHS scored the goal.

Blanchester weathered the storm of Williamsburg attacks to end the first half down 1-0.

Despite maintaining possession of the ball throughout the second half, Ballinger said, Blanchester gave up two more goals and trailed 3-0.

Emily Hinkle scored from 35 yards out on a free kick, said Ballinger, to make it 3-1 with 12 minutes remaining.

Overall, Hinkle played well, Ballinger said, in the midfield and pressured the Williamsburg offense into several turnovers.

Tatum Kirby and Lili Morlan also played aggressive soccer, Ballinger said. Regan Ostermeier had 10 saves in goal for BHS.
