Hurricane overtakes Falcons with 27 holes to go in SBAAC American

GREEN TOWNSHIP – Wilmington edged Clinton-Massie 168 to 174 Tuesday in the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference American Division match at Snow Hill Country Club on a rainy, dreary day for golf.

The six-stroke difference puts the Hurricane on top of the Falcons by two strokes in the league standings.

The 18-hole league tournament is set for Thursday morning at Eagles Nest Golf Course. Normally that would be the final league event but an earlier rain-out has made the tournament the penultimate league outing.

The divisional match at Cedar Trace Golf Course was postponed earlier this season and has been scheduled for Sept. 20 and will now be the final league outing and likely the decisive match for the overall SBAAC American Division champion.

Individually, Jack Murphy of WHS and Keith Mineer of CMHS both had 40s. Murphy leads Mineer for top individual honors by three strokes. Max Carnevale of Clinton-Massie is third among individuals; he had 43 and is now nine strokes behind Murphy.
