WILMINGTON – Clinton-Massie’s Gabby Woods earned top individual honors Wednesday in the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference girls golf standings.

Playing the league tournament 18-hole final at the Elks 797 Golf Club, Woods had an 85 (42-43) to finish as the league’s season-long low-scoring individual.

Woods had a cumulative score of 319 over the six nine-hole divisional matches and the 18-hole league tournament.

“This was a season goal, to win player of the year,” Clinton-Massie coach Tim McGraw said. “She works very hard and puts in a lot of time working on her game and I was glad she was able to accomplish that goal this year.”

Skylar Shircliff, of the SBAAC champion Clermont Northeastern golf team, was second with a cumulative score of 336. She was the medalist for the league tournament with an 81.

Heather Fryman posted the low score for Wilmington with a 99 (51-48). Marcy Ellis had a 124 (61-63) for the low East Clinton score.

For all-league honors, Woods and teammate Taylor Kropp were first team as was Fryman of WHS. Kropp had a personal best 18-hole round of 87 (43-44) on Wednesday in the league tournament.

“Taylor had a heck of a round,” McGraw said.

Second team honors from the county went to Abby Schneider and MacKynzi Vonderhaar of Clinton-Massie, and Brooklyn Taylor and Meredith Robinson of Wilmington. Taylor and Robinson both had a cumulative score of 470 and earned the final spots on the All-SBAAC second team.
