BLANCHESTER – Emily Hinkle and Sierra Drake led the offensive charge and Regan Ostermeier was the backbone of the defense as the Blanchester girls soccer team defeated Fairfield Local 6-0 Monday in a non-league match at Barbour Memorial Field.

Hinkle had a three-goal hat trick and an assist while Drake powered in two goals and assisted on two others.

Ostermeier made eight saves in goal in recording her third shutout of the season. She has 14 shutouts for her career, two off the school record (16) for career shutouts held by Ana Hosler.

The Ladycats are 3-5-1 on the year.

Blanchester led 3-0 at halftime on goals by Hinkle, Drake (a header) and Hinkle again.

In the second half, Hinkle assisted on Drake’s goal to make it 4-0 then the two got together again (Drake to Hinkle this time) for a 5-0 advantage.

Tatum Kirby muscled one by the Lions goalkeeper to round to round out the scoring with Drake getting credit for the assist.

Blanchester coach Kurt Ballinger said Taylor McQuitty played well in the midfield for BHS. The defensive back line of Bri Haun, Savanna Shank, Olivia Gundler and Sally Schafer “has started to come into their own as a unit,” said Ballinger.
