Massie girls golfers edge out SBAAC rival for final district berth

HAMILTON – Led by Gabby Woods, the Clinton-Massie girls golf team edged Clermont Northeastern for the final district qualifying berth Monday in the Division II sectional tournament at the Hamilton Elks Golf Club.

Clinton-Massie had 434 as a team while Clermont Northeastern finished with 436. The Lady Rockets edged out the Lady Falcons for the SBAAC American Division championship this season.

”This was a team goal of ours to get back to districts again this year,” CM coach Tim McGraw said. “Hamilton Elks is a tough course and, you throw in the heat and it made for a long day.”

Woods was second among all individuals in the tournament with an 86. Victory Lee of Wyoming was medalist with an 83.

Taylor Kropp had a 102 for Massie while Pearl Spurlock shot a 121 and Abby Schneider had a 125. Mackynzi Vonderhaar shot a 132.

The Division II District tournament is set for Oct. 4 at Pipestone Golf Club in Miamisburg.
