WHS senior golfers win home finale over EC

GREEN TOWNSHIP – Led by Cameron Smart, the Wilmington High School boys golf team defeated East Clinton 163 to 183 Tuesday in a non-league match at Snow Hill Country Club.

Smart had a 39 to earn match medalist honors.

Hunter DeWeese had a 40 and Jack Murphy shot a 41 for the Hurricane. Dylan Combs had a 44. Zack Delaney and Zach Zeckser played but did not score.

“It was a nice team win for us,” WHS coach Phil Gilmore said. “Cam continues to play well going into the sectionals.”

WHS seniors were honored for their contributions to the golf program. They are DeWeese, Smart, Combs and Zeckser.

“It’s bittersweet,” Gilmore said. “These guys were part of my team my first year coaching (at WHS).”

For East Clinton, Gage McConahay had a 43 to lead the way. Shane Streber shot a 45 and Logan Kelly carded a 47. Jacob Olds came in with a 48. Ethan Cornwell and Brendan Walters played but did not score for the Astros.
