Capital crunches WC volleyball in 3

BEXLEY – The Wilmington College volleyball team fell in straight sets 25-14, 25-13, 25-21 Tuesday to Capital in Ohio Athletic Conference action at the Capital Center.

A trio of setters combined to distribute the Wilmington offense, led by sophomore Alyssa McKenzie, who finished with nine assists. Sophomore Summer Wilbur added six assists and freshman Lauryn Griewahn recorded five assists.

Freshman Ariel Goforth recorded a team-high eight kills while freshman Jillian Wesco added five kills.

Freshman Taylor McCuiston led the team with six digs, while Wesco had two of WC’s four block assists.

Wilmington (4-13 overall, 0-2 OAC) steps away from OAC action 7 p.m. Thursday, traveling to UC Clermont. The Fightin’ Quakers defeated UCC, 3-1, earlier this season.
