Honaker, Sexton given SBC honors

The Blanchester girls tennis team had the top player and coach in winning their fifth straight league championship.

Ladycats singles player Brooke Honaker, a junior, was named the Southern Buckeye Conference National Division player of the year.

BHS coach Matt Sexton was named the division’s coach of the year.

Honaker and teammates Heather O’Neill, a senior, and Emily Speakman, a junior, were named to the National first team all-star squad.

Lilly Tedrick and Erin Wilson, both sophomores, were named to the second team all-star squad.

Blanchester has won 30 consecutive SBC National Division matches, dating back to a loss in 2010.

Since the 2008 season, the Ladycats are 54-4 against National Division foes.
