Sprinters lead WC men to fourth place at OWU invite

DELAWARE — Led by its sprint swimmers, the Wilmington College men’s swim team finished fourth Sunday at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

The WC men had a 3-4 finish in the 100-yard medley with Alex Tillapaugh (58.01) finishing third and Frederick Rankin (59.43) finishing fourth.

Andrew Stewart, a Clinton-Massie product, touched the wall in 21.79 second and was was fifth in the 50 free.

David Bellus was sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:07.07 while Cody Nash was seventh in 18:23.12.

Stewart, Tillapaugh, Bellus and Lawrence Daya team for a 1:32.37 showing in the 200-yard free relay and placed fifth.

Daya, Nash, Tillapaugh and Stewart were then fifth in the 400 medley relay in 3:47.62.

The Quakers go on hiatus from competition until Jan. 13 when they take on Manchester University at home.
