Lady Falcons bounce back with 44-36 win

WAYNESVILLE – The Clinton-Massie girls basketball team defeated Dayton Christian 44-36 Saturday in the consolation game of the Waynesville tournament.

The Lady Falcons (1-1) and the Lady Crusaders battled back and forth until the final period.

Clinton-Massie outscored Dayton Christian 14-3 in the final period with Johanna Theetge netting seven of her 14 points in the fourth quarter. Faith Cottrell had five of her 13 points in the finale.

“Good bounce-back win for us,” CM coach Tim McGraw said. “We didn’t have a good shooting night but found a way to win.”

Hanna Doss had a nice all-around game for CMHS, McGraw said, with seven points and four steals. Emily Ireland led the defensive effort in the second half with four steals.

Theetge also had 13 rebounds and Cottrell grabbed eight. McKenna Crawford was 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
