WC men earn 15 top-10s at indoor opener

TIFFIN — The Wilmington College men’s indoor track and field team had 15 top-ten finishes Saturday in the season-0pening Tiffin Alumni Open.

Will Overholt was the highest finisher for WC, placing second in the 800-meter run in 2:11.48. Zach Simpkins was third in the race at 2:12.46 and Josh Cyrus was fifth in 2:25.04.

Joey Holcomb, a Blanchester High School graduate, was ninth in the shot put with a toss of 14.28 meters.

Aaron Koch was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.38 seconds and Wilmington High School grad Nic Hayward was seventh in 10.16 seconds. Hayward then placed eighth in the high jump by clearing 5.35 meters.

Adam Knaub was fifth in the 400-meter dash with Koch finishing sixth in 56.46. Elliot Phillimore was seventh in 57.01.

AJ Hightower ran sixth in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 23.21 seconds.

In the 3,000-meter run, Cameron Phelps was fifth in 9:55.27, Ryan Honkomp was seventh in 9:57.46.

Wilmington’s 4×400-meter relay team was 10th in 3:40.9.

Kalvin Butts had a weight throw of 16.91 meters, good enough for eighth place.
