Heidelberg shoots down Wilmington 98-87

WILMINGTON – The Wilmington College men’s basketball team dropped to 0-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference following Saturday’s 98-87 shootout loss to Heidelberg at Fred Raizk Arena.

The Quakers are 3-5 overall. The Student Princes are 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.

Christian Jones drained eight three-pointers and finished with 27 points to lead all scorers. He also handed out three assists.

Andrew Russell had 21 points for WC.

Wilmington led early, but then Heidelberg went on an 11-0 run to take a 23-15 lead. The Student Princes another big run and eventually outscored WC 23-2.

Wilmington rallied to within 11 points in the second half, the first of which came on a Jones three-pointer at 4:14. However, the Quakers were never able to get the difference into single digits.

Heidelberg had no trouble solving the Wilmington defense, hitting 36 of 60 from the field which included 10 of 14 beyond the three-point arc.
