CINCINNATI – Wilmington exploded for 22 points in the second quarter Saturday and breezed to a 49-29 win over Winton Woods in non-league girls basketball action at the WWHS gym.

Mya Jackson scored 12 points in the second quarter to help the Lady Hurricane turn around a 15-11 first quarter deficit.

Jackson, who had a trio of three-pointers in the second, finished the game with 18 points.

Jasmine Jamiel added 12 points, seven of which came in the opening frame.

After struggling in the first quarter, Wilmington’s defense clamped down on the Lady Warriors the rest of the way, holding them to just 14 points or one less than the first quarter alone. Winton Woods committed 48 turnovers.

The two teams will meet again in the opening round of the Kings Holiday Tournament 5 p.m. Dec. 28.

Wilmington will host Williamsburg Wednesday evening at Fred Summers Court. Reserve tip-0ff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
