OWENSVILLE – Blanchester exploded for 35 straight second quarter points Friday in a 62-32 rout of Clermont Northeastern.

CNE pulled within 15-12 with 11:52 left in the second quarter on a Dalton Miracle 12-yard run.

Blanchester dominated the rest of the quarter to put the game away.

After a 38-yard kickoff return by Quenton Miller, Tristan Greene found Nick Hopkins for a 31-yard touchdown.

CNE (0-8) punted for the first time in the game on its next series. Blanchester followed with a five-play, 61-yard drive. Greene found Nick Grogg for a 30-yard touchdown. Blanchester led 30-12 with 8:24 left in the second.

The Wildcats (2-6) got the ball right back thanks to a fumble on the kickoff. Simon Latchford recovered. Three plays later, Hunter Collier scored from 30 yards away. It was 36-12.

Following another Rocket punt, it would take just three more plays for Blanchester to score again. Greene scampered for 62 yards and his fourth touchdown of the half.

It appeared that would be the last score of the half for the Wildcats with just two minutes left. However, CNE turned the ball over on downs at its own 35 with 39 seconds left.

Three plays later, Greene plunged into the end zone. The 2-yard run was his fifth touchdown of the half. Blanchester led 50-12, and the running clock was in effect in the second half.

Greene had a monster first half. He had nine carries for 149 yards and three rushing touchdowns. In addition, he threw for 94 yards and two more touchdowns.

Blanchester ran 32 first half plays, gaining 401 yards. After Miracle’s touchdown to pull the Rockets within three, Blanchester outgained Clermont Northeastern 241 to 28 for the rest of the second quarter.

After Miracle’s score, Blanchester had the ball for just 3:50 of the remaining 11:52 of the second quarter, and scored 35 points.

Hunter Collier also broke 100 yards rushing, finishing with 109 on eight carries and a touchdown. Simon Latchford had 40 yards and two touchdowns.
