ADAMS TOWNSHIP — A 13-1 run midway through the third quarter Thursday night helped propel Badin to a 57-25 victory over Blanchester in the semifinals of the Clinton-Massie holiday tournament.

Badin advances to play Legacy Christian 8 p.m. Friday at Clinton-Massie High School.

Blanchester will play Clinton-Massie at 6:30 p.m. at Clinton-Massie Middle School in the consolation game.

Blanchester played a solid defensive first half against the fourth-ranked team in the Cincinnati Enquirer Division III coaches poll. Badin made just 7 of 27 from the floor and had 11 first half turnovers.

However, the Lady Wildcats (3-5) struggled on the offensive end of the floor in the first half, making just 3 of 19 shots with 15 turnovers. Badin led 22-9 at the half.

The Lady Rams found their offensive rhythm in the second half. Badin’s full-court press turned Blan over and created easy scores. The 13-1 run gave Badin a 39-13 lead with 1:52 left in the third.

“We’ve got to eliminate turnovers,” BHS head coach Bradon Pyle said. “We have to play smarter against the press.”

Blanchester committed 25 turnovers and shot just 24 percent from the floor (9 of 38). While the Lady Wildcat defense forced 21 Badin turnovers, the Lady Rams shot 54 percent in the second half (14 of 26) to pull away.

Badin also controlled the boards, outrebounding Blanchester 43-20. The Lady Rams had 19 offensive rebounds to just two for the Lady Wildcats.

Dakota Watters led Blanchester with 12 points.

Claire McCurley led a balanced Badin attack with nine points. While no Badin player scored in double figures, seven Lady Rams had at least six points.
