Behind a solid defensive effort, the Blanchester eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Georgetown 37-29 Tuesday night.

Coach Brad Ballinger said the young Wildcats (1-6 on the year) allowed only one field goal in the first half while racing out to a 20-4 halftime lead.

Ryan Brewer had nine points to pace Blanchester on offense.

Gabe McVey, Blake Coffman and Justin Hogsett had seven points each. Seth Akers added five points while Nate Coyle rounded out the scoring with two points.

Coffman grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the way while Hogsett hauled down 10. Akers and Brewer both had four assists, Ballinger said.
