The Wilmington College women’s swim team lost to Mount Union 169-88 in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet at the Mount Union.

Samantha Glish led the way for the Quakers, securing two individual first-place finishes. Her first was in the 50-yard freestyle where she posted a time of 26.18. She then took on the 100-yard freestyle, earning first with a time of 56.51. She was then joined by Margaret Hover, Hannah Davis and Macki Leon for a 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet earned first with a time of 1:46.57.

In addition to her relay achievement, Leon took home an individual first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.94). She also earned second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.99.

Second-place in the 100-yard breaststroke was taken by Alyssa Rogers with a time of 1:15.64. Rogers also earned second in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:49.98.

Rachel O’Donnell claimed third-place in the 1,000-yard freestyle, completing the 40-lengths in 12:36.01, a lifetime best time by more than 13 seconds. Other third-place finishes for WC included Leon in the 200-yard backstroke (2:22.72), Davis in the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.17), and Elyse Herr in the 200-yard individual medley (2:40.36).

“Today both teams had some good swims,” said head coach Trip Breen. “Samantha Glish is showing great senior leadership. She won the 50 and the 100 freestyle and swam the final leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay. Her 100 free was outstanding. Rachel O’Donnell has been training and racing extremely well. Last week she had a lifetime best in the 1,000 and she was 13 seconds faster today.

“We are looking forward to another week of training as we prepare for JCU and then we will have an opportunity to start [preparing for our championship meet]. This is always an exciting part of the season.”

Wilmington is back in action at home 1 p.m. Saturday in an OAC dual meet against John Carroll.
