Blanchester 2nd, East Clinton 16th at Sycamore Invitational

CINCINNATI – The Blanchester wrestling team finished runnersup to host Sycamore Saturday at the Sycamore Invitational.

The Aviators had 162.5 points while the Wildcats finished with 159.5 points.

East Clinton was 16th overall with 47 points.

Blanchester had the most pins in the tournament recording 23 among its 31 wins.

Jon Cline of East Clinton was the 160-pound champion, posting four pins en route to the weight class title. Cline pinned Xavier Legault of Kings in 3:25 in the title match.

East Clinton’s Brayden Esposito was fourth at 113 pounds.

For Blanchester, Clayton Schirmer pinned his way to the 152-pound championship, including a pin in 1:16 over No. 2 seed JD Folz of Sycamore in the championship match.

Also for Blanchester, Daniel Davenport was fourth at 106 pounds, Gage Berwanger was fifth at 113 pounds, Johnny Schirmer was third at 132 pounds, Colt Conover was third at 160 pounds, Ramiro Torres was third at 170 pounds, Steven Latchford was fifth at 182 pounds, Christian Stubbs was runnerup at 220 pounds, falling to Ivan Pace Jr. of Colerain in 2:44 in the championship match.
