Yellow Jackets sting Quakers in OAC doubleheader

BEREA – The Wilmington College baseball team lost both games in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader Friday to Baldwin Wallace University (BW) at Fisher Field, 8-2 and 14-4.

In the first game, Jake Hyatt had a two-run singles to give WC a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. But the Yellow Jackets hit four homeruns in the game and went on to the six-run victory.

Hyatt had two hits and two runs batted in. Daniel Hayes had two hits. Both Joe Legin and Luke Kleindl had a hit and scored a run. Bryce Fordyce scored a run.

Jarrett Trautman pitched five innings for the Quakers and had three strikeouts and two walks. Trautman allowed nine hits and three home runs. Tyler McDaniel pitched three innings for Wilmington and had a strikeout and a walk. He allowed three hits and a homerun.

In the second game, Baldwin Wallace had 17 hits in the runaway win.

Wilmington finished with nine hits. Shane Hale and Nick Silvis had two hits each. Both Hyatt (a homerun) and Kasey Bottorff had a hit and an RBI.

Alec Robinette pitched three innings for Wilmington and had two strikeouts and a walk. He allowed six hits and five runs.

Wilmington falls to 8-16 on the season and 0-6 in the OAC. Baldwin Wallace improves to 17-7 and 3-3 in the OAC.

Wilmington will face Otterbein University in a doubleheader 1 p.m. Tuesday.
